Illustration and Summary Project![]() The "gist" of something is the main idea. You do not need to remember all of the details in order to get the "gist" of a selection. After reading the section you want to illustrate, write a sentence (or two) of no more than twenty words that captures the gist of the selection. Pick a section of the book and illustrate it. Write a short paragraph that gives you the "gist" of the story or expands the story through text-to-text, text-to-self, or text-to-world (Mosaic of Thought). If your book is listed below, you may do the activity for that book. Diary of a Worm- Illustrate Worm buying the diary that he used in the story. How I Became a Pirate- Illustrate why you would not want to become a pirate. The Dot- Illustrate yourself as Vashti in your favorite part of the story. I Love Saturdays y domingos- Illustrate something that you love to do with your grandparents. |
