Dinosaur Curators Performance Task

Task Directions:
You are the employee of a small dinosaur museum.  A large collection of dinosaur skeletons and fossils has just been donated.  this will make your museum #1!.  As part of the team, you need to use the internet and other sources to identify your dinosaur.  Find and record information regarding size, shape, movement, food and how the dinosaur got its name on the information chart.  You will create a brochure with the information you found that the museum can use to teach visitors.  Attach a length of string on the back of your brochure representing the length of your dinosaur.

Student Products That Provide Evidence of Learning:

Students will create a brochure including the size, shape, movement, food and how it got its name.

Student's string should match the length of the dinosaur.

Correct measurement in feet.          

Organization
Brochure contains less than 3 panels in correct sequence
Brochure contains 3 or 4 panels in correct sequence.
Brochure contains required 5 panels in correct sequence

Knowledge
Facts are relevant, but inaccurate.  Or irrelevant and inaccurate.  May be incomplete
Facts are relevant and some are accurate.  There may be several factual errorrs.  Information is minimal.
Includes essential knowledge about the topic.  Facts are relevant and accurate.
Covers topic in depth.  Information is clear, relevant, and accurate.  Includes details and examples.
Attractiveness
The brochure is not attractive in terms of design and layout.  It is distractingly messy.
The brochure is acceptably attractive in terms of design and layout, though it may be a bit messy.
The brochure is attractive in terms of layout and design and neatness.
The brochure is exceptionally attractive in terms of design, layout, and neatness.
Conventions
Brochure has little or no evidence of correct writing.  Poor conventions seriously limit the paper's readability.
There are capitalization, punctuation and/or spelling errors in the brochure even after feedback from an adult.
Minor errors are present, but they do not detract from the readability of the paper.
All capitalization and punctuation is correct throughout the brochure.  all words are spelled correctly.
