Task Title: Music of Stories
Subject: Reading Fluency. Musical rhythm skills
Designer: Tammy Larson
Introduction : Students will explore literature and the effect fluency can have on it‚s interpretation.
Content standards/understandings assessed through this task:
Comprehension-Reading Fluency
Read with fluency
Evaluate own fluency
Task Description: Students will choose a short piece of
literature to practice for fluency. It should be a piece with
lots of „texture.‰ They will record the piece with the iPod, down
load onto Garage Band, and add music or sound effects to enhance the
mood and theme of the piece.
*Extension- put it into iMovie and create original art works to further enhance the piece.

Garage Band piece of the literature
iMovie piece of the literature

This was done also with the music teacher and Dr. Seuss. This
will allow for different genres and moods to be experimented
with. The process is familiar therefore it can be independent.
